Web Marketing God…in!

by Paul Wilson

Web Marketing God…in!

seth_godin.jpg This is exciting news! I am part of a street team who is pushing hard to get Seth Godin to come to Utah on May 24th. The only way we can get him to lock in SLC is if we can get 500 people to commit to pay $50 by this coming Monday (quick I know but we can do it). This is for his book tour to promote his new book, “The Dip – A Little Book that Teaches you When to Quit (and when to Stick).”

Click Here to see how you can be sure to get Seth Godin to come to Salt Lake City. What makes this very interesting is that a lot of different states are competing for him to come. The nice thing though, is that he has lowered his speaking fee, but only for a short while (does that sound like a used car sales pitch or what!).

Chris Cannon Web 2.0

Chris Cannon Web 2.0

chris_cannon.jpg

Right now I am at a small meeting at the University of Utah with Utah Congressman, Chris Cannon. I was invited to be a part of a unique idea called Politic2.0. We are in a computer lab where we are asking questions in real time. Then everyone on the web and in the room electronically vote on the questions that they want Congressman Cannon to answer.

I found the above graphic and I really liked it. It’s playing off of the ol’ water cooler politics idea. However, it also gives me the opportunity to talk about the importance of taking advantage of the Presidential Election as a web marketer.

Blog Dating—the Next Blog Revolution

Blog Dating—the Next Blog Revolution

linds.jpg You may be a bit confused about the below posts. Particularly if you start reading at the top of the blog. To assist you, the beginning post you need to read is titled “Blog Dating in the Flesh.” Quite the scandalous title, I know.

Last night I went out with a beautiful woman who seems to have blog fever running deep in her blood. It’s actually quite interesting to see her passion for blogging, because only a short while ago I was trying to convince her of how fun blogging really is. Now I am in a hot competition with her blog to get her time, attention, and affection.

I’ve told several people about this date, and it’s really interesting to see the bewilderment that overcomes them. People start asking if we went on a date over the Internet. Well, yes, we sort of did, but she was right next to me at the same time. This answer only confuses them more so. Others have just scoffed and mocked what we did, and wonder if I am just fabricating a story to prove that I didn’t just stay home on a Friday night.

How Can My Title be Better than Her Title?

How Can My Title be Better than Her Title?

paul01.jpg That last post was just for Lindsay’s benefit, now for the real post! I wonder if this is a historic moment in the development of the Internet. Is this the first official blog date? I am not sure, however, it is my first blog date.

Let me review with you our date to this point. First, I prepared myself for my encounter with the lovely Miss Lindsay by cleaning my car, grooming myself, and gargling with a considerable amount of peppermint mouthwash (a must do for all dates).

thumbdrive.jpg I knew this was going to be a memorable date, when Lindsay displayed her keys while locking her front door. Her key chain sported a nifty USB thumb drive, a must for portable blogging, or for blog dating—an unknown variable to me at the time.

Blog Dating in the Flesh… ;)

by Paul Wilson

Blog Dating in the Flesh… ;)

linds03.jpg I have been informed that to make this official, there must be a blog entry. So, here goes—My name is Lindsay, and I am currently typing on Paul’s site from the computer on the eighth floor of a miscellaneous office, in a miscellaneous building. Time is 11:31pm. Those details are not important. What is important is that Sir Blog Geek is at my side, and this is, officially, a blog date.

How inventive, you may think to yourself. What a novel idea. A date, and a blog, all rolled into one! But perhaps it is not so original…

My mother is currently teaching my little brother about a phenomenon in childhood development. It is called “parallel play.” It is the point at which two children are playing side by side, doing what they would normally be doing on their own, but in the same space.

Network of Creativity

by Paul Wilson

When I was first introduced to the Internet in 1995 I remember feeling that I was being shown one of the coolest inventions ever. As time passed the Internet integrated into my life and I no longer was awed by what the web had to offer anymore. Email became a way of life, and the Internet moved more and more to being my profession than something of sincere amazement.

Winners Announced

Winners Announced

jump02c.jpg Yesterday we announced the winners of the $100 Challenge for Ms. Draper’s 6th grade class. Below are the winners. I am not sure if I will do this again. I really hated to see the faces of the kids that didn’t get the $100. There wasn’t much I could do, I wish I had unlimited supply of funds to pay equally every student who put there heart into the contest.

Though, I should note that every student who did try didn’t go empty handed. Out of 27 students there were really only about a dozen who tried and received money for their efforts. Over a weeks time I gave out close to $400 in prizes and money. As one parent wrote me, “I would **have** loved having someone give me $5…” (by the way, if you wrote me this I only received half of your letter, please feel free to resubmit it to me). I would have to agree with this parent, and that is why I gave away money to the kids. At their age I would have done anything, short of selling my soul (and that is even questionable), to make any money.
